Stan Ohms served in the United States Marine Corps specializing in supporting communications networks, installation, setup and maintenance of telephone key systems and switches. As a NonCommisssioned Officer, Mr. Ohms was responsible for the STU-III (Secure Telephone Unit). While serving, he developed repair and accountability procedures for the STU-III streamlining the system resulting in a savings to the government of over $500,000 receiving the Navy Achievement Medal.
While serving in the Marine Corps, Stan started his IT career with Fidonet Network building and operating a BBS network. As a Fidonet Member he was responsible for installation and support of BBS based applications and the distribution of email and files across the dial up networkin Okinawa Japan.
Since leaving Fidonet Network, Stan has acquired thirteen years of experience building personal computers. He has eleven years of installing and installing and supporting desktops ranging from DOS to Windows Vista. He has ten years experience in designing and building networks in a Windows environment.
As operating systems evolved, Stan expanded his knowledge base from DOS/Windows 3.x to Windows 95, Windows NT, and Window XP. The BBS environment evolved into Internet connectivity and Stan took a position with the AT&T Worldnet Japanese company called AT&T Jens in technical support being offered Technical Support Manager.
Stan Has developed superlative skills supporting clients on-site, via remote connectivity tools, and by talking them through procedures over the telephone. Additionally he is adept at interacting with a call-tracking system and documenting problem resolutions.
Stan has numerous years experience working directly with the client and having overall responsibility for the installation and on-going support of PCs, notebooks, printers and servers. He supports his clients in a multitude of industries and is familiar with most major desktop applications and, as a result of his experience, is comfortable addressing issues in new applications.
Stan has accumulated 12 years experience with telephone systems and desktop computers and obtained an Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology while in the USMC. He also has received his Computer Industry Trade Association’s A+ Computer Technician Certification and is a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), and is currently has almost completed his work towards his Windows 2003 MCSE Certification.
